Our Philosophy
At Kumaran Watch(thekronos.watche), we believe that time is more precious than money. Each moment is a unique gem, once lost, it never returns. This belief has been at the core of our operations since our inception.

Our Origins
Founded on December 12, 1949, by M. Sengoda Gounder, Kumaran Watch Company began as a modest venture in Erode. Born to a farmer and starting as a technician repairing gramophones, wall clocks, and alarm timepieces, Sengoda Gounder was well-versed in handling pocket watches, a skill he honed over the years. His dedication and expertise led him to establish his own company, which quickly became a leading watch dealer in the region.

Over time, his son S. Kumarasamy joined him, contributing to the growth and success of the company, ensuring it remained a premier dealer in Erode.

Our Journey
In our early years, we proudly retailed esteemed brands such as Favre-Leuba, Hendry Sandoz, Enicar, Titoni, Bifora, Camy, Fortis, Seiko, and Citizen. As the market evolved, we expanded our offerings to include brands like HMT, Timestar, IST (Indo Swiss Time Limited), and Sartime from 1980 onward.

Our history also includes a successful foray into radio sales, where we were dealers for renowned brands like Philips, Murphy, and Bush. In 1966, we were honored with the "Best Seller Award" from Philips Radios, a testament to our commitment and excellence.

Today, our portfolio features a wide array of fashion and luxury brands including Tissot, Seiko, Alba, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Diesel, Fossil, Skagen, Westar, Q&Q, Casio, Titan, and Timex.

Expansion and Growth
Our commitment to growth and excellence continues. In 2004, our business expanded to Tirupur District under the leadership of Er. K. Yuvaraj, the grandson of our founder. We further extended our reach with a third branch on Cutchery Street, Erode, in 2009, and a fourth branch on Perundurai Road, Erode, in 2021.

The Evolution of Watches
Wristwatches, originally designed for military personnel to keep track of time, have evolved into multifunctional tools that enhance various aspects of daily life. They now aid in staying motivated, monitoring workout progress, improving cooking accuracy, and interfacing with technology to boost productivity.

The first wristwatch was crafted in 1868 by Swiss manufacturer Patek Philippe. Despite the loss of earlier models in a fire in 1877, Patek Philippe's pioneering wristwatch set a benchmark in horological history, valued over a hundred thousand dollars. Switzerland remains the epicenter of sophisticated timekeeping, with Swiss watches gaining prominence in military applications from World War I through World War II due to their accuracy and durability.

The concept of wristwatches, inspired by military timepieces worn by French soldiers in the 1830s, has since transformed from a practical tool to a significant fashion statement. Today, watches reflect personal style and are considered valuable investments.
